Couple or three years ago in the UK, my local firearms section sent plastic bags to everyone who held a shotgun certificate. We were asked to fire two shells through each shotgun we owned, then bag the empty hulls and send them to the Firearms officer.
I don't know of anyone that complied and nothing more was heard about this scheme.
No idea what they hoped to achieve by having the empties.
Ken.

OH man Ken, would I have had fun with that request!
Range has a drum full of empty hulls!

Bob: You sound surprised, were you? Really??

Shucks guys, soon as you shoot someone where the bullet
can be recovered just run some sandpaper down the bore
on a rod spun by a drill, it sure won't match after that.

Some of you obviously don't watch Forensic Files...... Your DNA on the weapon and at the crime scene trumps any actual or altered bullet marks you might leave behind..............

I watch those shows all the time, you can't get ballistics off a 17 caliber bullet, to explosive and pieces are to small. that's why all the ranchers on the western slope of new Mexico were buying up 17 rem's when the fed turned the wolves loose.

No doubt about it...a 17 leaves very little in the way of bullet residue that can be analyzed.

Still........ Don't sneeze at the wrong time or you're hung.

My wifey of 46 years and I watch FF several times a week. We've decided that we're stuck with each other for eternity as there is no such thing as the perfect crime any longer... And we're both too old to risk being Bubba or Big Hanna's room mate.

Thanks for the info George and others, I ran 100 grit sandpaper attached to a cleaning rod and high speed drill through every firearm I own last night. It did not want to go at first, but the longer I did it the easier it got. I finished each guns muzzle crown off with a rat tail file.
I am still not sure how this will help if I ever shoot something I am not supposed to.

Qaz,
IF you shoot something you're not allowed to, it will be pure accident!
After your dastardly deeds in the barrels there's not a chance of deliberately shooting anything.

We are advised by the Liberals to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.
Funny how that works.
