Jingle
I had to watch each bullet run,
as some batches were softer/harder than other batches.

My bbl twist is 1/12, on the last 2 bbl's,
I just buy a batch and test them,
via the plastic sandwich bag filled full/sealed with water,
Then I set an empty coke can filled wth water,
Behind the sealed sandwich bag at 100yds,
Then shoot the center of the bag,
When I get these light weight bullets to blow up,
And have no or very little bullet fragments in the coke can,
Sight the rifle in at 2"high @ 100yds,
and start using them.
Don't shoot for the shoulder, ribs only.

I use the same method for my 222/223 rifles,
With outstanding results, with the best yr ending in 97 Yeller dogs in 79 days of calling.

HTH,

Tia

I think your on to something here, hehe.... I'm always concerned about going beyond the "POI" I am going to try your sandwich bag/coke bottle trick with the lot I have. If I can sight my scope to where a reduced load can have the same POI at 25/50 yds I'd be golden for a squirrel/coyote rig.... I haven't tested my 17 hornet to see where the scope would sit using full on loads as I'm having to much fun with it as a dedicated squirrel rifle using very reduced loads....

Just wanna play with the 22-250.

My Cz 221 fireball was deadly on gophers using older Nosler 45 gr hornet bullets. I don't remember the velocity but they were not being pushed hard .
The terminal results were like a much faster projectile .

Jingle

I have head shot/thumped lots of cottontails with the 35gr weights,
JUST keep the bullet placement from the eye forward to the nose,
On broadside shots,
or you will ruin the front shoulders, , as I learned.

My rifle will shoot to the 25yd poi using these Atom bombs,
with the full house loads, calling loads.

Don

Well muzzleloader deer season here will be over on the Dec. 31 so I will be Squirrel/Coyote hunting and tinkering with loads until my custom Bullberry 6.5 CM gets here.

The 2016 Hodgdon Annual Mannual that is now out, has even more Trail Boss data for more ctg's including the .22-250 with a variety of bullet weights form 35gr. upwards.
