Default 17/221 FB brass

Has anyone used 300 Blackout brass to make 221 or 17 FB brass? Since it's relatively cheap is it worth the trouble?

I use it to make viper brass, but I believe it will end up being too short for Fireball brass, I believe spec on it is 1.368 and fireball is 1.40. I am not sure it will grow enough in the neck down process, but might.

Joe, I'm not sure how things are around your area but around here you can still pick up some pretty good piles of 223 brass at the ranges for nothing. They make great practice cases with no dollars invested. I've made a lot of 17 Mach1V, 221, 222, from good once fired range pick up. You'll need to figure out what your going to use for dies. A lot of the factory rifles have such sloppy chamber throats you don't even have to ream or neck turn but you'll need a pin gauge to know for sure. Once you master case forming you won't be squeezed during some of the brass shortages we have seen. Plus I think you'll have some fun at it. Don't worry about messing a few cases up as you start, we all have. That's why range pickup works so well, its free.
