Velocity can vary between rifles of the same model by up to 150-200 fps with the exact same load depending on minute variations in chamber & barrel dimensions & powder lots. Your question is unanswerable except to give an approximate velocity range it should be within. A chronograph is the only way to find out for sure, cause what the loading books say is pure speculation. Hodgdon's guess is as good as anybody's.

The 222 is an accuracy cartridge and not a velocity cartridge .Easy to get accuracy and decent velocities . I personally would match the bullet for the 222 velocities .I would use the Hornady 50 grain sx near the 3000 fps for varmints . They are not a sexy looking bullet but work well in the 222 .

the load in question is accurate enough for me. I just wanted an idea as to what velocity it might be generating.

My guess is you are somewhere around the 2,800 fps that Hogden lists for that load. I run a 22.3gr load and my avg velocity is a touch over 3050 in a 22" barrel using a moly coated 50gr TNT.

You are at a starting load with a velocity in the 2800s fps. My Lyman book shows 24gr of H322 compressed with a cup in the 4500s and a velocity of 3200fps. Kenny

My .222 SAKO L1 likes 40gr. Hp's and Vmax driven by H or IMR 4198's as well as AA2230. At around 3,400fps, they are super on rats.

H322 222 load
My 40X with a 20" barrel uses 23.5 grs with a naked 50 gr TNT to go 2950 fps.
Also works well with 20.5 grs of Rel 7. Chuck |
