Default American Eagle - .17 WSM...

I saw American Eagle .17 WSM on the shelves at my local shooting range, today April 21, 2015... Odd as I had not heard they were going to make any. They were actually well stocked on Winchester .17 WSM as well...

Default Now that Ruger

Is making rifles I wonder if Cooper will jump in and make a new rim fire rifle
for this cartridge. Glad to see more ammo choices.

Talked to Cooper at SHOT this year. They said the added length of the magazine for the WSM was the ( currently ) limiting factor.

They, and any other company that currently makes a .17 Hornet, could easily modify a magazine to work with the .17WSM. Ruger simply shortened the internals of a .17 Hornet magazine to fit the slightly smaller round.

Don't think that Cooper currently makes a .17 Hornet repeater.

I spoke to them in 2014 at SHOT and showed one of them the round. They said it would not take much to modify a current magazine to work with the 17WSM. We walked over to one of their rifles, he popped out the magazine and laid the round on it. I'm not sure which cartridge the rifle was chambered for, but it was a "no-brainer" (his quote, not mine). I wished I paid more attention to it at the time. I think a single-shot bolt-action from them would be a great start, even if they could not do a repeater in the near future.

For right now, yes. I doubt that will change in the near future.
