Default 22Nosler test coming

I told a buddy of mine about the new round. Today he tells me he has an upper on the way and it should be here on Monday. So will be off to the Range next weekend to give it a test run. Will report back on results. Upper was $1200.00 and for another $450.00 he could have had a side charger but opted to pass on that.

Interested to see how it works in the AR upper and if he gets the results and FPS that Nosler claims for the AR platform. Bill K

nosler needs a new proof reader, they show both bullets(55&77) at the same velocity in 2 places . I don't think I am reading it wrong.

Approaching 22-250 velocities in a significantly smaller package, the 22 Nosler® yields nearly 25% more capacity than the 223 Rem/ 5.56 NATO making the round capable of pushing a 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet at 2,950 fps out of an AR-15 fitted with an 18” barrel and a 77gr. Custom Competition® bullet at 2,950 fps.
Nosler® Trophy Grade™ Ammunition— 55gr. Ballistic Tip
3,500 fps (24” SAAMI test bbl) | 3,350 fps (18” gas-op semi auto)
Nosler® Match Grade™ Ammunition— 77gr. Custom Competition
3,100 fps (24” SAAMI test bbl) | 3,350 fps (18” gas-op semi auto)

Fox,

looks like one of those "how you read it"

It says 2950 fps out of an 18inch barrel but does not state barrel length concerning the 77gr bullet, which could very well be 24inches hence the same speed for different weight bullets.

Maybe?

I do see the 3100 vs 3500 fps so maybe they simply messed up?

OK I got the cost wrong. It was $450.00 for the upper and $50.00 extra for the side charger. It is a AR-Stoner purchased from Midway. 18 inch fluted SS Barrel with a 1 in 8 twist.

Steveo

When you get your hot grubbies on some OEM loaded brass,
can you mike the brass just ahead of the extraction groove,
and provide those measurements?

I have the printed spec's for this area,
but wanted to see the actual sized spec's of OEM brass etc.

I have a Wild wildcatter dream showing up.

Tia,
Don
