When I got to my place in Arizona and started loading for my 17-204 I started shaving off the 30gr Nagels. I just went to the Ace Hardware store and found a 3/8 inch countersink, I think it cost me about $3.00. It works perfectly, not a scratch on the bullets and they seat nicely. Larry

Click the link for a picture of the Sinclair VLD tool. I think it basically has two things going for it:
1. The 28* angle.
2. The fact that it has so many cutting edges.

Takes a bout half a turn with very light pressure to give you a 'smooth as butter' bevel. I tried a couple of similar carbide burrs before ordering this one a few years ago. They worked okay but, nowhere near as smooth or fast. I still use the old stand-by Lyman for the outside of the necks.

Default VLD 17 val

I have used a Lyman VLD reamer for all my 17 and 20 cals for quite some time. Works great.

Default Great post

I hate it when I see copper at the necks of my cases from seating bullets. I am going to order some of the 30gr 17's and will work on fixing my bullet seating problem. I bought the Lyman one and haven't tried it yet. I do have the K&M controlled depth reamer for 6MM and up cases. I like it very much. They make on for 17-6MM too.

Steel wool polishes chamfered case mouths which prevents shaving jacket material from bullets as they are being seated.
