Way OT, Marlin Model 62, 256 win & 30 Carb
Just wondering if anyone here is shooting one of these rifles, they look like a fun little lever action. Reckon one re barreled to 5.7 Johnson would be good.

I have had two over the years. both in 256 win mag. both were fairly accurate with the ammo I made for it but I had limited use for them so they went down the road. the gun it self is nice to handle and operate. never considered it to rebarrel to anything. no reason not to though.

I have a Marlin 62 in 256WM. A prior owner didn't think the factory barrel shot well and had a new one installed in the same caliber. I think they are a little heavy and clunking for what they are and would much rather carry a Marlin 1894.

.256WM with the 75g Sierra HP or 87g Speer soft point do very well on smaller (>130lbs) deer.

Couple a years back you fella's had to live through the saga of my finding a Marlin 57M Levermatic in .22 Magnum to replace a childhood favorite that was stolen. It was real similar to the 62M Levermatic in .256 in configuration except the 62 had a magazine and the 57 was tub fed.
Here's my 57M. In use. And here's a web picture of a 62M in .256 Mag. Other side. I'd pay stupid to find a 62M .256 in the condition the 57M .22 Mag. I found is. Hellacious accurate .22 Magnum for a lever!

Doug, I remember your search and you sure found a beaut. Very few 57's came into Australia and you have to be real quick to grab it if one does come up.
There was a very nice 62 on GB last week but big dollars I don't think it sold, said I would'nt go down the import road again but a 57M & 62 might just push me over the edge Johno |
