Russell, best bet is to go to Sako Collectors club site. You'll find what you need there. The A 1's are nice rifles, wicked accurate. What caliber is it?

Default Need pix!

Sounds nice, not stock as Sako never made the Mach IV. The A1 was the last truly small action series. They made these from the early '80's until the MX91 models came out.

Looks to be, between 1987 and 1993.

Default Sako A1

Serial number 187,382 carries a manufactured date of 3/11/1987 so yours is approximately 1,300 before that. Sounds like a custom built 17MK4 on an A1 action probably built late 1986 to early 87. You will not be able to find the exact date it was manufactured, even the data cards that come with them only represent when it left. Only thing consistent with Sako is that they are not consistent with anything. Might even be a re-chambered 17 Rem? The AI/L461 is probably one of the most desired short action repeater actions for small caliber customs. Their value is wholly tied to the quality of components used and the quality of the build.

Thanks so removal of the firing pin from the bolt should be the same as the L461?
