Default suggestions with a 204ruger loads ?

hello to ya
I started at a min. load and worked up a max. load. the best group was 26.5grs of h322 in front of remington 7 1/2 primer with 32gr hornady, worked the seated length from below to almost falling out of the case. Best groups are from 2.600 to2.305. Powders that have been tried h322,varget,BL-C(2),IMR4895, and primers that have been tested winchester, federal 205,GM100M, remington 7 1/2. Here's the deal for months going through app.1200(with this load all together about 2500) rounds best groups are just under 3/4 of a inch at 130 yds with temperatures above 45 F. The other day temperatures where down to low to mid 30's groups where 3/8 to 1/2 of a inch. Yesterday temp. was 50's and groups opened up to the normal 3/4 of a inch. I gave the barrel 20 to 30 minutes between shots to cool. So any suggestions??

thanks tim

Default 204 Ruger load

If you can get VVN530 . I use 26.0 grains of N530 and 40 grain berger 205M primer . My rifle shoots tiny little groups with this load . Rifle is a Rem 700 with 11 twist Pac Nor barrel . Thanks! Mark

Default Rifle spec's please...

Need to some info on the rifle your shooting your loads out of. Is it a factory, any mods to factory, semi custom or custom? Have you checked bedding? Barrel condition? If it’s a strict factory what you got may be as good as it gets with out some mods, like bedding & trigger work. Powders can be very temperature sensitive.

Not with your load per se but I will tell you I had a load using H335 worked up for my .17 MachIV that was shooting way sub half inch above 70 degrees. Winter came along and being bored I took it to the range just for giggles, about 30 degrees. Groups (I should say pattern's) were well over an inch. I thought I needed a new barrel until I posted here. The following spring I took it out at 65 degrees and it put em all into one hole again, lesson learned. Temp really affects some powders and loads.
As for personal .204 favorites my rifle which isn't a stock chamber likes 39 BlitzKings in Winchester cases using 10X and 7 1/2BR primers. It's a sub half inch shooter. the rifle is a CZ Varmint Kevlar if that matters.

When I load the 32's, I also load them over H-322 and a WSR or RemBr primer. I've not noticed the problem in my CZ. My load is considerably hotter than what you listed. I have seen the problem you've described in other rifles with wide temp changes even with an "extreme" powder.

My rifle(s) also likes the 39g/10x combo or 39g/H-4895 with RemBr primers, try it you'll like it.

+1 Some rifles like the 32, some like the 40, but almost all love the 39.

I'm currently reloading for 4 or 5 different 204 rugers and am having good luck with Viht N540 28.8gr behind a 32gr V Max using Rem 7 1/2 primers. This is slower than factory loads(3700fps) but results on both fox and coyotes has been excelent, with little pelt damage.
