Been shooting mine (M700/Pac-Nor 10 twist) at extended ranges for some years now using WS2 coated Nosler 70gr BT's over Varget, fireformed WW brass, 7.5's for 3,800 fps, shoots right at book max into lil dinky bughole groups.
Not suitable for extended sessions at rats from the bench, but when one is standing on his mound flipping me off past 500.......I reach for "Long Range Loretta" as she's affectionatly called, and Skippy usually has a very bad day from that point on. When the barrel is toast, I'm thinking 6.5-08 Ackley next time with a bit faster twist.

I'm runing a trued 700, #3-Rock 9" twist @23", McM classic w/ 90gr Swift SII's.
Ran them out to 600yds at the gun range with excellent results. Lapua casings CCI BR2's R17 90gr SSII's. I can't quite recall what they were flying at but I thought they were around 3375-3400fps. |

I think that's what's called a 6.5 Creedmoor these days.

With all due respect....
The 6.5 Creedmoor is not the exact same cartridge as the 6.5-308AI.
AI cartridges typically have a 40 degree shoulder...the 6.5 Creedmoor has a 30 degree shoulder. IIRC, PacNor has the 6.5-308 AI reamer in their wildcat selection (with a 40 degree shoulder) and the 6.5 Creedmoor is in their factory reamer selection. -BCB

BCB,
I guess my attempt at humor was carried off poorly. I was merely joking about the ballistic similarities and how there is nothing new, only repackaged (with slight changes to assure that "its different"). BTW, I was under the impression (perhaps incorrectly) that P.O. Ackley also designed cartridges with 30* shoulders as well, like the 17 AH. Perhaps the 17AH doesn't fall into the same category as being "improved", just a straight out wildcat...

Again, it's close but two totally different reamers used between the 260 AI and the 6-5-308AI.
I looked at this area a year or so ago for having a custom rifle built and one day by accident I ran across a new-in-box Rem 7 in 260 Rem at a very good price and I bought it. It shoots extremely well in factory version, so I solved my dilemma of which reamer to use... I didn't use any of them and stayed with the factory rifle... My wife was impressed with my compromised thinking..!! At least in this situation... -BCB
