Default Sako L461/A1 bolt face.. 223 or PCC?

I have bought a used Sako Single shot action, and I am wondering if anybody could tell me if it has a 223 or PPC bolt face?

When measuring:
Outside diameter of bolt : 0.511"
Rim thickness : 0.059"
Bolt face diameter : 0.393"

This is measured with a tape.. so its not 100% accurate..

But, with the PPC face, from what I can find, should be 0.445", which would leave the rim thickness to be, 0.029"

From what I find, the 223 bolt face on these Single shots are very rare.. most where drilled out to fit PPC brass.

The bolt on my L1 .222 will accept up to " 385 " diameter cases, as the bolt nose recess measures .386", side to side.

Please take into considering my measurements can be off slightly. Old, sick, half blind. But I bet they are close.

Default Sako single shot action

The Sako single shot action in A1 came in both the 223 case head and the PPC size, they would have been sold in a box, action only. You could buy the A1 PPC rifle complete in both HB Single shot and sporter barrel repeater but Sako never offered a A1 223 Single Shot rifle. So, if you have a A1 single shot action with the 223 bolt face it came in a action only config, usually in the white although some blued versions have surfaced. Even on those there was nothing on the box denoting it was blued. As far as rarity I've owned more 223 sized singleshot actions than the PPC's and that includes in L46, L461, and A1. In fact the only A1 PPC actions that I've seen at auction went for more than their 223 brothers by quite a bit. More in the custom action range, 800.00+.

Years ago, I bought a Sako L461 single shot in small bolt head, twas factory blued, in the old blue/white box. Built a wildcat improved 222(ground on reamer) on it with Shilen #2 barrel, Richards Microfit fair grade bastone(when Richard was head man). Sorry to have to say, never shot it; too many memories with it.

I have only seen 22ppc and 6ppc in full up ots rifles. I have never seen a PPC head in a Sako single shot action only; but really I do not get out much. probably exist, but not seen one. The old PPC was pretty accuate in these rifles, but never took off with the masses; probably an ammo thing.

The actions are AI & AII.

Both seem to be blued from the factory, and serial numbers indicate 89-91.
The AI, is chamberd in 223 K&M. ( I do not know what the K&M stands for.. although its not the smiths name)

The other one is not marked, but the slip it came with said 6BR, but is not marked anywhere on the barrel.

Here are photos of them.
