This is an interesting auction
Pretty cool, I’ve never seen this before. I think Kevin needs this to add to what he already probably has

notice the pierced primers, not that it matters on brass?

Yes interesting, but I also noticed the corrosion (blue residue) on a lot of them. Been sitting a long time, it would appear. But more than likely would clean up with a good tumbling. Bill K

17 Javelina Mag
Looks to be very similar to a 17/204. 222 Rem Mag cases. Wonder where the boxes with the Remington labels came from? Interesting for sure.
Looking again it appears the “17 Javelina Mag” label has been applied over a Factory box.

If you look closely, the first left box, someone made the labeles, stuck them over the factory 222 rem mag inked designation, and the yellowed scotch tape is the smoking gun to these being custom labeled and not factory labeled, if I read your reply right.
Cool caliber, haven't fired my Sako 17 Javelena yet..... |

Drew, I did notice the primers right away. I’m not sure if it was too much pressure or not but the primers don’t look overly flattened out. Might have been a gun issue?
That said I bet those live rounds would have neck tension. Probably next thing to being glued in lol.

There was some pretty severe cratering on the primers that weren't pierced. I'm guessing soft primer cups and poorly fitting firing pin.
I have a reamer and dies for the 17-222Mag if someone is looking for a project. |

Gary.......
No how........No way......!!!.....would I gamble on that aged brass.
They appear to be 17-222 Magnum length cases that are formed to a 32 degree Javelina shoulder. The cratered and blanked primers, IMO, are the result of having been fired with a boltface that had a too large firing pin hole. But.........I don't think anyone was bushing smaller firing pin holes 55 YEARS AGO!!! If fired today......I'd almost bet that the case shoulders would show multiple cracks. I'm wondering.......who's 27gr. BT bullets.........from half a century ago?? Kevin |

Agree with Kevin, scrap bucket stuff and $130 plus $20 shipping? That's $2.50 each. You gotta be kiddin'. YMMV.

That’s exactly what I thought Kevin. And I was just giving you a hard time.
