Default Barrel

I pick up a barrel but it's to big for the stock i have. can i turn the barrel to fit the stock i don;t want to open the stock up. The stock is A old sacko stock That i want to keep original

That's easy then, get a new barrel that will fit that stock - or a new stock.

My old accuracy smith from the 70's said not to re-turn a barrel without it being properly stress relieved - again. He said it may expand if it's a button'd barrel. Right or wrong I don't know.

Think the best thing to do, at this point and for your reason, would to obtain a stock from Boyd's and put that action/barrel in for your use now. Bill K

Default not an expert

but i buy a lot of lilja barrels that are already made and sitting on the shelf that are a sendero contour and have them recontour them into lots of other contours, last one was a cz sporter. they all shoot great for me. like i said, not a benchrester or expert.

It's a kriger barrel the gun is a sako 22ppc That is shot out i got a barrel that is a 6ppc that i wanted to put on it but it's to thick.

Your barrel can be turned down , however it is not as simple as it seems. Turning barrels down is a real pain due to the lenght ,taper and steel type .
