True enough, the long, thin walled neck of the Hornet case is vulnerable to denting, crushing and, eventually, stress cracking- although I have and continue to reload several hundred 22 Hornet brass my father was using in the 1950s and 1960s.

Sturdy rimless brass and a couple hundred more fps were why I finally bought a CZ 527 in .221 Fireball, but I still grab the old .22 Hornet for just walking around the property with no particular intent to shoot at annything- Way more capable than a .22LR, "just enough" rifle for mid sized varmints with good shot placement and easy to carry. Plus, a cast bullet friendly case neck and twist rate.

Anschutz 1730 Meister Grade.
Back in my gun room I have a target that is a 5 shot 100 yard group that measures a .266 center to center, my beloved Bride shot it with that rifle. They aren't all that good but enough are it's no anomaly, really . I confess however that my working load is in WW weight segregated cases and consists of a 40 grain V-Max seated out close enough to the lands it won't fit in the magazine , 13.2 grains of Lil'Gun with a WSR primers. Crazy accurate, a real rat wrecker and consistent 1/2 inch rifle if I do my part, or she does her's. Ladies a prodigy!
For a repeater which really isn't important to me I know that the 35 grain V-Max in the same case and using the same primer can be seated deep enough to fit in the magazine and it shoots like crazy too but with the 35's ping-pong ball BC the 40 grainer has a considerably farther effective range.

If ya find something that does everything ya want be sure to let us know because it's not an unusual question and a lotta guys want the same thing you do. Good luck .

If you can find one, I had a Krico 22 Hornet that shot very well. Similar rifle to the Anschutz and made in Austria I believe.

My Son & I have 2 CZ 527`s in 22 Hornets that will shoot under a 1/2 inch groups at a 100 yds. I have all but retried my other two 22 Hornets. All of our CZ`s are just outstanding shooters.

I've also got a standard grade Annie 1730, I pillar bedded it before I shot it. A very accurate rifle...I would consider a 1/2 inch group unacceptable for this particular rifle...…..…..

Those are my experiences with the .22 Hornet CZ's I've had.
3-shot groups @ 100 meters (109yds) in "the teens & 2's" are not out of the ordinary.
