UPS and FedEx both go through the same routine with items damaged in shipping. Neither seems much better than the other in that regard. I've heard of lots of cases that were settled immediately, however, when they were served with Small Claims Court papers. It's usually pretty cheap to file a case, just a hassle that you shouldn't have to go through.

I've only had one gun damaged in shipping and it was just stuffed in a box. The shipper didn't have any trouble collecting from FedEx. It probably helped that he did a lot of business with them. I bought the barreled action from him for a good price.

Default More being added to this story!!

First off we never even discussed shipping carriers, I did not choose FED EX thats who the FFL I deal with uses, they just changed from UPS. The rifle was fine when it left my possession as well as the FFL dealers. So to stop all of this posting and email threats with the ATF etc, etc. Forget sending the stock to COOPER to have it fixed, I will refund the full $1050 plus shipping back to me. Done deal!!!

5 of your 8 posts Private Pilot are busting out another member. Why don't you give him a chance to make it right. Sounds like you are getting a full refund. Not like you payed him and it did not show up. Nothing criminal here at all. Sounds like who ever ends up with the gun has a bone to pick with FED-EX. Let's see some pics. I want to see all the damage and the packaging.

Having to deal with UPS on a damage gun (UPS ran a fork threw the box) and a stolen pistol good luck with no insurance. I took three months on the rifle and the pistol is still a battle.

Chris1957 - is correct and I retract my statement about telling him not to use fedex. I got this transaction confused with another gun that I bought this week. I normally tell all people I buy from not to use fedex. Chris1547 has backed off of his initial email and is a stand up guy on this transaction. I thought it was going south by the tone of his first email, but things have since turned around and it in fact looks like I jumped the gun!

Default Fed Ex :(

FED EX is a joke!!! They denied the claim right off the bat today. I called Cooper they wanted $600 for another stock to replace this one, however they stated if its not cracked or broke they can refurbish it and just charge for shop time. This is a situation where trying to save gas ans time bit me in the ass!! Next time I will carry a rifle to a UPS hub and insure it myself!! Tough lesson to be learned

Chris, I saw a cooper stock for sale on the classifieds of a web site but i'm buggered if I can remember which one.

If the stock is dented you can raise the dents with a hot iron over a wet cloth. Just take it steady and dont go like a bull at a gate.

Glad this was resolved, the members here are always very helpfull. And without going into details Larry in VA went out of his way to assist me. Report on those slings very soon mate

Johno

An exchange of phone numbers solves a lot of problems, as emails can oftentimes be misread. Hard to exactly convey one's thoughts and feelings in writing....YMMV
