Do the same weight bullets usually shoot the same?
Been testing a new .264 LBC (6.5 grendel clone). Bought 4 boxes Hornady 123 SST bullets. Ran out, called my LGS he now only has Hornady 123 VLD-M. Do the same weight bullets shoot to near the same POI?
The Hornady ammo is getting confusing. They have 123 Amax, 123 SST, 123VLD-M, and 123 VLD-X. Which are suitable for what? |

I know the a Max is target, sst is your standard ballistic tip for big game. The others are low drag something or other. I'm not really up on their use.
I'm not sure if they will hit at the same point. Some of it depends on shape more then weight. But I've had bullets hit the same point I didn't expect and some that I was sure would and didn't. I would test them before you buy a bunch

The short answer is: no, however, the difference, if any, might not be detectable till you get to extended range, range that might be beyond your intended use, and in that case, there may be no practical difference.
