Default Bullet wax/lube

Educate me. I read some place just in passing on this for the 17's and others. I looked at the wood chuck dens 2016 catalog and it has a lube, but no specifics.

I tried a couple of types, and I could not really see any advantage over bare/factory finish.
Others, I have read, swear by bullet wax/lubes of various makes.
My personal opinion only, is that it is not worth the extra time and effort to coat them.
But you will not know unless you give a couple a try and see what you believe.
That is my .02 worth. Bill K

Have you thought about using powder coating on your small bullets, I am getting ready to try some on the .204 cast bullets with both the 5MM Craig and the 20 AI Hornet. If those go well I will build a 20 AI-223 barrel to see what happens at those speeds. I am using Prismatic Powders and will eventually have different colors for different bullet weights. I choose to use Prismatic Powders over Harbor Freight because I can talk to the staff that makes them and some of those guys are shooters too.

I have tried it on cast bullets. I am on the fence for that application.
As far as jacketed, I don't know what to think. I am going to guess that it will make a mess, just because of the speed and pressure involved.

A coating will not help a bad bullet or a rough bore.
Clean up and more shots in a good string is what I am after, or looking for.
I looked at the moly coating years back. Now I have seen some of those kits at give away prices and still no one interested.

Moly coated 25gr. Vmaxs and 25gr. Hornady HP's that I did, worked really well in my CZ bl. from the .17AH. Good groups, Zero copper fouling. That barrel did copper just a bit, though with bare bullets. Up to 300 rounds between cleaning without accuracy loss.
I also had Moly Solv, for removing the moly when cleaning. The Pac-Nor barrel would shoot the same, running back and forth between bare and molied bullets, however the CZ barrel needed up to 6 or 7 shots to re-condition the barrel when changing or after cleaning.

note - Moly-Solv is no longer produced as far as I can find.
That is unfortunate as it was extremely fast at removing moly from barrels.
