Ive stopped using 20gr V/M on fox (3.650ft/sec) they splash on the skin and i have seen four run away into cover after chest or behind shoulder shots all around 120yds i now use Noisler 20gr HPFB they penitrate further and imediatly kill.
20V/Max are ok for instant kills on rabbit or corvids but they spoil a lot of meat so head shots only for the table. Berger 20gr MEF. I tried 200 and on body shots even at 175yds a small entrabce hole no exit hole and you pick up a rabbit skin filled with rabbit soup but i thought that they where discontinued a few years ago. On our gophers, I've managed quite a number of doubles - 2 for one shot using Vmax bullets. I've only ever made 2 triples but only with Hornady HP bullets only. In the rare instance the Vmaxes were tried on triples, NADDA! Only 2 die, never got 3. The HP's by Hornady are considerably tougher than the Vmax's.
The newer Nosler Varmageddon Hp's and tipped bullets look as if they will be a bit tougher than Vmaxs as well, due to slightly thicker jackets. So far, I've made some nice groups with the Noslers in preliminary testing. I would head shoot them, anyway. Here's the results of a 25gr. HP at work.

Any 20 gr bullet is likely to make front shoulder inedible if you use a heart shot. Suggest head shots and use what you like.
