For a coyote gun that feeds and gets all your going to get out of a 223 case, perfect. I wore one out at (rough estimation, 1000 or so shots) on P dogs shooting 30 Kindlers (coyote and Pdog killers) and 25 V max full throttle, flat shooting hard hitter. For a great coyote gun your not going to shoot a ton, you could make it last a while. Speed costs money,( read barrels) sgtg out

I went with a 17-204. It is easy to form, won't have to load it as hot to get the same speeds, and no fireforming. Besides, 200 pcs of brass will probably last the life of the barrel.

Can't find any 204 brass right now. 223 can be found.

DAA has two good write ups on the predator on his rocky mtn varmint website. You should check them out. I like the idea of forming 223 brass for the predator because it's plentiful. But the dies may be easier to come up with for the 17-204 using redding 204 w/ 17 cal bushing. As others have stated these two shine with the thirty gr bullets and that is where they outdo the 17 rem.

Like said can't go wrong with the 17 Pred. and 30 gr. golds. I went the simple route with mine and form brass out of 204 brass, just neck down and bump shoulder to your chamber spec.s...

I have a .17 Tactical that safely runs 30 grain Berger Boat Tails at a bit this side of 4,000FPS. I'm using IMI brass and I too ended up with Big Game as the powder of choice. Not sure how it stacks up against the .17 Predator?? Seems Dan C. and I were talking once and he told me but can't say I remember .
Mine has never seen a p-dog town and it won't any time soon either, I have a number of less barrel hungry offerings for colony critters but on fur and chucks it's amazingly flat shooting. I took a little Google trip and found an article Dan wrote on the .17 Predator after he designed it. It does have more pizzazz than the .17 Tactical. I'm running 24.2 grains of Big Game under that 30 Berger match on a 75'ish degree day for 3,979FPS according to my records. Dan shows 27.5 grains for 4,079FPS (not sure of the temp?), here's a link to Dan's article if that might interest ya? Maybe DAA will chime in? http://www.rmvh.com/17PDanC.htm
