Default Hello from Finland!

Hello from Finland!

Stepping in to the small (big new area of knowledge) world and forum with a cz 527 17hh varmint.
Reading a lot of intresting discussions here and thought it was time to register :-)

Have not been experimenting with anything smaller centerfire than 22's although more to the bigger calibers.

In the process to fireforming ppu 22 hornet brass when my cz arrives, ordered it in April and the wait is a pain :-(

Also bought 2 boxes 17 hornet hornady brass, but it's the one's with the dots around the hornady name, so what i understand it's the bad brass?

Does anyone here know if the Warne maxima medium will fit a 50mm objective, regarding to barrel-optic measure ?

Regards/
Christoffer

Hey, welcome aboard!!

So, what do Finlanders shoot for fun or eating? Nearest prairie dog is about halfway around the world by my reckoning.

Thanks for the welcomings!

Ooh i do envy your prairiedog hunt! Seems so fun

But we do have a lot of waterfowl hunting, roe deer, moose, there have also becoming a small number of whitetail deer here where i live (Aland Islands, between Finland and Sweden)
And offcourse pigeons and a lot of them, season starting on Monday 1 September
Then on the varmint/pests we have crows, muskrats, raccon-dog (not the ordinary raccoon)
And red fox, also on special permit gray seal

That is most of what we hunt here :-)

And offcourse a lot of shooting

Welcome aboard Christoffer!

Raccoon Dog, had to google that, new to me, critter. Very interesting, being a Canid, I guess that may be Finland's coyote, or close to it?

Really don't know what to compare it with, it comes from Asia imported to Russia for it's fur and from there it have spread to Finland, it is relative to wolfs, foxes, and dogs so i really don't know
It does a lot of damage to smaller animals, birds , and it reproduce in a very fast pace.

It's very hard to come close to them, there is more of a sit and wait hunt :-)

Welcome to our board.
Do you shoot many of them? I'd sure like to have a tanned pelt if you get a chance. Let me know the cost. We can't have ''em tanned here because of the laws. Have a muntjac cape that can't be tanned because of that.
I'd be willing to pay the costs within reason if you could arrange it.
Which color phase is in your area?

Daryl:
Many thanks for posting those links, I'd had no clue otherwise.
