Default How to convince a non believer in small calibers.

I think I'm wasting my time with this clown, but I'm trying anyway.
How do you convince a person to start looking at the small calibers. He seems to be stuck on .223 WSSM and 22-250 and I believe the .204R or 20T can do close to the same ballistics with less powder and recoil and barrel wear.

Michael, I know a couple guys like that. I usually lay out what I've found to work for me, once maybe twice, then I leave it. I'm getting too old to waste precious time on arguing. There's too many people with an open mind you can talk to.

Have a bet! Cheapest to run and best ballistics maybe?
Load up say 200 rounds and then see who has used the most powder.
then shoot the rounds side by side on the range to show the amount of drop.

Used to loading 38 super rounds and loaded up some 223 on my 650 and whoa, loading those"big bore" 223's burns a heap more powder
Funnily enough i really noticed the difference when loading for the 20VT the first time.

I probably wouldn't bother to try. There's a guy who shows up here fairly often with some idea or other. He asks for advice, gets a long thread going and then invariably does what he said he was going to do in the first place.

People like this are time & energy wasters. maybe take the time to show him why you like the little guys and leave it at that. Life is too short to waste it on trying to convince someone of the obvious.

And that's just about as perfect an answer as I could imagine. Well said Ray.

Default Energy

Seems the only thing to debate is the terminal/impact energy desired or needed; no sense using a cannon where a nice .17 or .20 cal pill will do the job.

I think I just called a 22-250 a "cannon"...see what saubier.com will do to ya!

Default More bullets for us

Try convincing a non-sub caliber person that a 17HMR and a 17 Rem fireball are not the same and one can way out do the other.
