The Hodgdon's 2008 Annual Manual has reloading data on page 78 for the 17 Fireball round. The manual lists H335, Benchmark, H322, H4198, and IMR 4198 powders that is used with 20 Gr HDY V-Max, 25 Gr HDY HP, and 30 Gr BER HP bullets.

Default lighter bullets faster powders... any thoughts ?

Anyone out there try IMR 4227 in this case with a light 15 to 17 grain bullet? Just curious about what you could get for velocity with 14.2 grains of IMR 4227, in a Mach IV since that was the max load in my TC with a 17Mach IV 21 1/4" barrel. (CCI 400 primer, seated out to touch the lands, no moly 17 gr V-max Hndy)
Anyone here know where some lighter bullets are around the 15 gr to 18 gr? Funny anough that is also a well tolerated load with the Varmint Extreem 20gr bullets with the same components. (

Hutch

As for light weight 17 caliber bullets, two board sponsors come to mind. Chappie Gennette at Genco used to offer a 16 grain, dunno if still available. And The Gunhaus folks list a 15 grain and an 18 grain in the works. Another board sponsor, Berger Bullets, discontinued their light weight, you might be able to track down some sitting on a shelf somewhere.

I emailed Gunhaus requesting load data on their bullets (specially the 15 gr) and have not received a reply. But thanks for the info. I will be buying a bunch today. My coop in 20 tact fires their 48 gr bullets wonderfully

You probably haven't gotten an answer back because they haven't made any of the 15gr bullets yet. Larry

Are these HOT loads for a stock action like a Cooper or just heavy custom actions? Those are 17REM velocities...
