I went out this afternoon to chrony and look for signs of pressure in my hand loads for the new ccm. What I did not expect to evaluate was bullet performance.......... That 20 gr V-Max is a Bad Bad Boy! You should see the holes in my Master Chrony! Excellent expansion! I see no reason why that bullet should not kill a coyote! I went to my range, setup, pulled the bolt and looked thru, no Chrony in the path, only target. Forgot my shells, got up went to the car. Came back, decided to shoot the lower target on the board (for safty reasons, better back stop!), adjusted front rest down a bit. Pulled the trigger, bang! No bullet hole on the paper???????? Chrony says 2744..... Hummmmm..... Chrony doesn't look right. Got up and went to the Chrony, I shot over the first light sensor, clipped the center divider (1/2 hole) and drilled the rear sensor. I can't belive that it register the shot!
Here is my question, is the 2744 fps valid, or did the center divider slow it down? hahahaha
The up-side...... First and for most-I had my safty glasses and muffs on. Second, the next 5 shots out to the little Cooper went in to a itty bitty group. Edge to edge measures under .4" all touching.....
This was 8.0 grs of AA1680, no pressure at all. I'm going to bump up the powder up 0.2gr.
All and all, a good lesson, wear you safty gear guys and girls! It was a stupid mistake, but could have been a lot worse.
