Pelt Damage on Fox

Last Saturday while out deer hunting, I saw 2 foxes first thing in the morning. I was able to get a shot at one of them with my Contender carbine chambered in 7-30 waters. The pelt damage was not severe but there was no question where the entry and exit were. Between me and the other guys hunting the farm, we saw more foxes than deer. I was unable to call in the second fox that I saw 15 minutes after the first one came into range. I was using a open reed cotton tail distress call. It was very warm and he showed no interest. The second one that I spotted was 150 - 200 yards away and offered no clear shot. Even at 150 yards, it would have been a difficult shot with my carbine topped with a 4x scope and no steady rest. I am taking my father-in-law out deer hunting on Wednesday and will be toting my .17 Remington.
