Hey, I'm still throwing ideas around about building a .20BR,
I've got an old Winchester Model 88, in .308 caliber. What do you think about taking the barrel off, and putting a new one on chambered for the .20BR? I know that the the BR is based on the .308, so the bolt face would be o.k., do you think the chamber length would be long? Any ideas on this idea would be greatly appreciated. Also any recommendation on who to have the work done by? Thanks, Nantan |

Not familiar with the Model 88, but can tell you that the .20BR should work if the gun is now chambered in .308. The BR case is the same case head as the .308 but is shorter. Shorter is not a problem, it is when you try to go longer. The BR case also uses a small primer instead of the large primer that the .308 uses, but this doesn't matter either. Is the Model 88 a bolt action?

I don't think the 88, which is a lever action, is the ideal platform for the 20 BR. I don't think you'll be happy with the accuracy. MM |
